What is the problem

Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO)

A sanitary sewer overflow occurs when sewage spills from the network of pipes that lead from each residence or business to the treatment plant.

While sewer system investments by SAWS have dramatically reduced sanitary sewer overflows since 2010, significant construction projects will be required to further reduce overflows and reach our goal.
